    Dr. Jagannath 'Azad' [ born- 1918]
    Dr. Jagannath Azad was born in Issakhil, in Frontier Province of Pakistan in 1918. He is the son of the famous Urdu poet Tilok Chand 'Mahroom'[ 1885-1966]. Mahroom is famous for his nazms 'nurjahaaN ka mazaar' , 'ashk-e-hasrat', 'soz-e-dil' etc.
    Azad is well known Urdu poet , he is also famous as an expert on Iqbaliyaat. After the partition, he along with his father settled in Delhi. The incidence of partition affected his poetry. Due to the affect of Josh and Iqbal, you won't find the talkHi in his poetry rather its full of love for humanity. His poetry also represents the Progressive Movement in Urdu.
    He served Urdu in his various official capacity and continues to do so.
    daaman ki ghaTaa yaad naH zulfoN ki ghaTaa yaad
    ab kuchh bhi nahiN soz gHam-e-dil kay siwa yaad
    kah-tay haiN keH aata hai musibat meiN kHuda yaad
    hum par to woH guzri keH kHuda bhi naH rahaa yaad

    [ zarra= particle; soz-e-daruN= the fire within]

    ap-nay azam-e-jawaaN say phailo aur tufaan bano
    [ qatra= a drop, azam-e-jawaan= strong determination]

    aik naye mazmoon ki ab tamheed bano
    [ mazmoon= an article/ chapter; tamheed= introduction/preface of article or book]

    aik nayi mehfil ka ab saamaan bano

    zarra  murda kHak nahiN hai, is maiN ab kuchH aur bhi hai
    ilm nay ab yeH faash kiya hai [ilm= science/study; faash= revealed]
    zaara quwwat ka paikar hai  [quwwat= power/energy; paikar= visage]
    duniya nay ab jaan liya hai
    zarra taaqat ka mazhar hai [ mazhar= one who shows]
    aik jahaN maiN shor bapaa hai
    barq ka zar-ray maiN unsoor hai
    [ barq= electric; unsoor= element (plural= anaasir)]

    zarra murda kHaak nahiN hai, is may ab kuchh aur bhi hai
    mahaz fasurda kHaak nahiN hai, is may ab kuchh aur bhi hai
    [fasurda= rotten]

    qatra zaahir maiN be-rang hai, baatin maiN be-aab nahiN
    [ zaahir= visible; baatin= hidden/internal;
    aab= water (here it may mean sparks, juice)

    qatra, jab cha-hay garduN per [ garduN= universe]
    baadal ban ker chha sakta hai
    nanha sa pani ka yeH paikar
    toofaN ban kar aa sakta hai
    olaa ban jaye to aksar [ olaa= hail]
    buniyaadoN ko Dha sakta hai [ Dha= destroy]

    qatra zaahir maiN be-rang hai, baatin maiN be-aab nahiN
    haaN ye faqat ik qatra hai,  jee-nay ko agar betab nahin
    [ faqat= only]

    nagasaaki par jo gira tha, woH kya tha?    -ik zarra tha!
    [ nagasaki= second city to be atomic bombed]

    aaj jo toofaN  ik 'kHatra' hai,  kal yeH faqat ik qatra tha!
    besood-o-kamzor naH jaano [ besood = useless]
    apni hasti ko pahchaano
